We used to ridicule him and make fun of his calls, but he was the GOAT. He should be in the Hall.
@fernandochavez7405 Says:
*I was a heavy gambler guy and every time I bet on the Yankees I preferred to listen the games on the Radio rather TV because this man gave me Peace, I carry him in my heart forever*

I thought just a TV seemed to be un Yankee like…A Yankees Rolex perhaps…I don’t what would the boss do for John? Of course, nothing would ever be enough😢

Did they give him an 83 inch TV? The guy is a multimillionaire. Anyway Sterling was a low class loudmouth.
@roncaruso931 Says:
John Sterling was a loudmouth. His home run calls were idiotic. Ill take Mel Allen, Red Barber, Phil Rizzuto, Vin Scully and a few others. Good riddence.

They could’ve done a 24 hour retirement ceremony and it still wouldn’t have been enough. Man I’m sad he’s retiring. Thank you for everything John, best of luck in retirement.
@sammyeisenhower1986 Says:
I don't wish him any ill-will, but he was a terrible announcer.
@rippinryan1982 Says:
Thanks for the memories John. For most of my adult life, I've been a driver and I took your voice with me for the ride. Hearing those Yankee game broadcasts made work not feel like work. There will never be another John Sterling. And a lot of people don't give Suzyn enough credit, but one day she will call her last game and I will feel that void as well. Hopefully that is still many years to come. Enjoy your retirement and God bless you!
@slapshot68 Says:
He said that the main reason he quit was not because of stamina, but the traffic, he lives in Edgewater NJ, he had to go over the bridge n to the deegan every day, He should hav moved closer like in Westchester county n Maybie he would hav continued a bit longer
@KLMatSJC Says:

"The gutty, gritty Yankees have come all the way back, 6-0 down to tie the game at 6." Sterling on Leyritz' 1996 WS difference maker and historic HR off Wohlers. I remember the magic.

As a 12 year old kid, with an old radio getting a static broadcast in Florida, matching audio to TV broadcasted playoff games. I will forever miss his calls. I still now 48 years of age listened to every inning of his broadcasts this year. I will miss it so much

@thelawofdivineoneness458 Says:
As they played the package of his various calls I literally started to cry. I will miss those calls. Although I loved "Burn Baby Burn" I remembed how much I loved "A Thrilla from Godzilla!" and if someone hit a double in the gap John would say "It's going to roll all-the-way-to the wall...!" I am going to miss John so much. Happy Trails Mr. Sterling! Enjoy your retirement!
@ledzep9943 Says:
In tears. You are a legend John Sterling. You will be DEEPLY missed not being in the booth everyday. The end of an era, but what an era it was 😎
